Twenty-five glass partitions for BNP bank in Paris

BERNARD PICTET, AND ZOÉVOX CREATE TWENTY-FIVE GLASS PARTITIONS FOR BNP BANK AT PLACE DE L\'OPÉRA, PARIS

BNP has introduced a new concept to its main Paris branch that will create a more relaxed, comfortable environment for its customers. The new spaces include a children's play zone, a lounge with sofas, a bar and a reading area. The laid-back, colourful atmosphere is very different from the traditional image of a major bank.

For this 1,200 sq m space, Zoévox architecture and design agency asked Bernard PICTET - the two regularly work together - to create twenty-five silvered kinetic glass partitions, each three metres forty high.

These semi-transparent, semi-reflective partitions are arranged in threes. They join with the suspended ceiling in hexagonal sections.

Through transparencies and reflections, they create distinct zones, at the same time deconstructing the overall space.

These partitions fit perfectly with the surrounding materials, colours and shapes, and accentuate the 1970s overtones, when kinetic art was at its height.
